I am so excited to announce the official early access release of Cygnus, my web-based astrology app! It's available for you to use free right now, and includes tools for:

  • Birth charts
  • Solar and lunar returns
  • Progressions
  • Transits
  • Zodiacal releasing
  • Firdaria
  • Moon calendars
  • Planetary hours

What I'm personally most excited for is the powerful Electional Search tool which allows you to search future skies for all manner of criteria. You can save all of these charts and searches and share them with others, too! For instance, here's Cygnus' launch chart, shared by yours truly.

The Cygnus electional search tool

Cygnus is the culmination of 8 years of deep astrology study and working with astrology software, and over a dozen years (a whole Jupiter cycle!) of professional experience building software for the web. I've had a lot of time to develop lots of opinions about what I want my dream astrology software to look and feel like. Keeping with its namesake of the Swan, I want using Cygnus to feel like spreading your wings and flying.

Today, Cygnus launches with a slight bend toward core Hellenistic and traditional features, but I have built it to support every conceivable type of wheel-based astrology, including the ability to do crazy things like define your own zodiac segments, use custom dignity systems, and create custom lot formulas. You can look forward to all of that plus more tools, techniques, custom themes, in-depth wheel customization, note-taking, and social features in the near future. My long term goal is to make it easier for people to work and study together. So much of the actual practice of astrology can exist in isolation, both in terms of software and community. I want to build a place where people can share, discuss, and collaborate and facilitate the art and practice of astrology at large.

While Cygnus is in early access there is plenty of jank and cruft that I will be smoothing out over the next weeks and months. Eventually, Cygnus will have paid tiers and some features will require a membership, but foundational tools for casting charts will always remain free. In the meantime, I want to get community feedback on how Cygnus feels to use, what features you want to see first, and anything else that you have to say!

Please give Cygnus a spin! 🦢

Best,
